8 Reasons you should have cupcakes at your wedding
There are so many options when it comes to the choice of sweet treats on your wedding day. Im here to convince you to opt for some moorish and delicious cupcakes. I can gaurentee your guests will love you for it.
Variety of Flavours
One of the big benefits of having cupcakes for your wedding is the freedom when it comes to the flavours you choose.
Your guests can decide between classic flavours such as vanilla or chocolate or more complex flavours such as sticky toffee pudding, white chocolate raspberry or chocolate banana. Why not utelise the seasons and pick flavours perfect for the time of the year. Strawberries, raspberries and lemons for summer. Carrot cake, chai spiced sponge and dorset apple for autumn. Or even base the flavours around your favourite drinks. Pina colada or margarita cupcake anyone?
Dietary Requirements
It’s also a much easier way to cater for your guests who have intolerances to certain food groups.
Dairy, gluten, soy or nuts can all be made in smaller batches meaning you don't have to change the whole design of your wedding cake or order in extras to make your free from guests feel included.
Beautiful and Customisable Designs
Whether you opt for a range of flavours with coordinating toppings, piped flowers, simple swirls, beautiful sprinkles or edible flowers, your quests will be desperate to choose one for themselves. You could vary the display to include different colours or why not have a range of flavours and toppings like these vanilla and strawberry cucpakes. How beautiful would these look in rows with lemon and blueberry, chocolate and caramel, carrot cake etc
The Display
Don’t worry, there a some gorgeous options when it comes to the look of your cupcake display.
Traditionally the only option was to have a tiered cupcake stand, but not any more my friend.
Cupcake walls, different height stands, cake steps or on array of platters, they will certainly make an impression.
Watch this space for a new display im working on for the new year which is going to work perfectly as an interactive cake experience for your guests.
Portion control
Some caterers and venues charge to cut up tiered cakes (righty so, there is an art to it)
Cupcakes are pre-portioned and perfect for quests to serve themselves. It’s a great way to minimise waste, as guests will only take what they want. Everyone always feels like they are getting a decent serving with a cupcake.
Easy to Take Home
I mean who wouldn't want a cupcake the day after your wedding when you are feeling a little fragile? Or place setting at the reception table with your name on it. All you need is some little individual cake boxes (around 20-40p each) and away they go.
Its fairly notorious for guests to not take home cut up cake after a wedding unless they have been guided to do so. A nice big sign saying help yourself always works a treat.
Easy Delivery or Collection
With a tiered cake, the only viable option is to have it delivered on the day of the wedding. Cupcakes allow for you to have the option to DIY your display and collect the evening before or for a guest to collect the morning of.
The only exception to this would be for fresh fruit toppings, which would need to be added on the morning of the wedding. They could however be delivered and stored by the venue and put out later in the day which may lower the cost slightly.
And last but by no means least
A Cost Effective Option
Cupcakes are a brilliant option for couples who would love something tasty, but would like to keep their costs down.
With the average cupcake cost being between £2.50 and £3.50 each (depending on the design. Some designs such as piped flowers or gold leaf cupcakes can be £4 + ) its a brilliant way to serve your guests a delicious cake treat without it breaking the bank.
I hope I have inspired you to consider having cupcakes at your wedding. They are still a popular and chic option for a range of venues and styles.
